If you bought all of these components separately, you would be paying more.  Each system is designed to put out a certain amount of power, based on 5 hours of peak sunlight per day. 

The Smooth Sailing Marine Solar Package is an excellent choice for multi-day excursions on a sailboat or houseboat. The four Kyocera KD135 modules have a warranty for marine usage, and provide 2,200 to 3,200 watt hours per day to your battery bank. The Magnum Energy pure sinewave inverter is equipped with a powerful battery charger allowing for quick recharge of a 12V battery bank once you return to shore power. its Magnum Energy BMK Monitor Kit allows you to monitor the true state of charge of the batteries at all times on its MERC display.

There is also no need to mix old batteries with new batteries. The battery selector switch also allows you to switch back and forth between two separate battery banks.
